HD Forum Italia, UHD Spain, and Forum Audiovisuel Numérique (France) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the promotion, development, and adoption of Ultra HD technology in Europe and international markets.
The agreement establishes a long-term collaboration between the three European media industry associations, with the goal of positioning UHD as a global technological standard. The protocol includes joint initiatives in technical, educational, and promotional areas, as well as coordinated activities focused on knowledge sharing and the development of best practices.
The three associations will work together to define common guidelines, conduct tests and pilot projects, organize training programs, and align their strategies at regulatory and institutional levels. The agreement aims to create a unified voice before European institutions and international organizations, supporting policies that facilitate the widespread adoption of UHD.
This collaboration comes at a crucial time for the audiovisual industry, where the expansion of Ultra HD plays a key role in driving innovation and global competitiveness. The adoption of this technology not only enhances image and sound quality standards but also opens new opportunities in the sector through advanced features such as High Dynamic Range (HDR), AI-powered upscaling, and content personalization. The convergence of UHD with emerging technologies creates unprecedented opportunities for producers, broadcasters, and distribution platforms, enabling the development of increasingly immersive and accessible audiovisual experiences. Through this synergy, HD Forum Italia, UHD Spain, and FAVN aim to accelerate the transition towards a more innovative, efficient, and sustainable ecosystem, helping to consolidate Europe’s leadership in the international audiovisual landscape.
